This story is fictional...
Pte Tan received a 14 extras duty for forgetting to countersign the bookin /bookout book while doing his duty. The same incident happens to Pte Sum and he received 3 extras duty.
Pte Tan approached his platoon commander (PC), finding that it was unfair when his superior comes to dealing this same issue and wanted some justifications and the same punishment to applied on Pte Sum.
PC told Tan:" The reason why you've more extras because this is not the first incident but a repeated one. You tried to cover up the this issue, which was a serious offend. But Pte Sum approached me and told me the incident TRUTHFULLY and was willing to accept whatever punishment for his actions. Please understand that there's no favourtisim being render in this case, so don't use the same yardstick that you've received on others."
Tan was dumb founded and realised that he was too self-centered and inwards looking.
Qns: Does this ever happened to you? In school, at home, at work or in church? With this I would like to brng to you to this passage in the bible Matthew 7:1-5 says:"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ' let me remove the speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your won eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." Jesus tells us to examine our own motives and conduct instead of judging others. The traits that bother us in others are often the habits we dislike in ourselves. Our untamed bad habits and behaviour patterns are the very ones that we most want to change in others.
Do you find it easy to magnify others' fault while excusing your own? If you are ready to criticize someone, check to see if you deserve the same criticism. Judge yourself first, and then lovingly forgive and help your neighbour (others). Many times, our very first reaction when we encountered the same issue or incident is to point our finger at other/s by saying:"Why he/she did not get the same treatment as me or us?
When we starts to point finger on others, we had unknowingly point the reminding 3 fingers at ourselves. (Don't believe, try to point your index finger and see if the other 3 fingers, other than the thumb, points at you.)
I trust that ask we read the bible passage earlier on. Let's ask the Holy Spirit to search our motives, intentions and hearts. Allow God to deal with us on whatever issues that we rendered it unfair to us.
Don't run ahead of God, don't act on behalf of God and don't sentence others for God. I leave you this bible passage taken from 1 Cor 4:5.
